Wanted woman steals merchandise from Giant Eagle; catalytic converter stolen: Middleburg Heights police blotter

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio –

Shoplifting: Southland Drive

A Berea woman, 50, was cited at about 7 p.m. Dec. 12 after she was caught stealing merchandise from Giant Eagle, 6869 Southland.

A Giant Eagle security guard saw the woman conceal several grocery items in a reusable shopping bag. Then she walked out of the store without paying. The guard stopped her outside.

Police learned the woman was wanted in Berea for a traffic offense. Berea police didn’t want to pick her up so Middleburg Heights police advised her to turn herself in later.

Police gave the woman a courtesy ride to a Parma Heights bar so that she could charge her phone there and call for a ride home.

Theft: Engle Road

A catalytic converter was stolen between 8 p.m. Dec. 11 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 from a Mitsubishi Outlander parked outside Home2 Suites by Hilton, 7355 Engle.

The Mitsubishi had been rented from Avis.
