5 Steelers-Eagles matchups that could decide Week 15’s outcome

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Week 15’s contest between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles has finally arrived! An injury plagued Steelers roster leaves much to desired heading into the game, but several important matchups will be key in deciding the victor between the two Pennsylvania teams. With that in mind, here are 5 of the most important positional matchups between the Steelers and Eagles in Week 15.

Dickerson and Heyward are both enjoying arguably their best seasons to date in 2024. If the Pittsburgh Steelers want to have any chance in this contest, the pass rush, that starts with Heyward, will be key.

WR Mike Williams vs. CB Darius Slay:

While rookie CB Quinyon Mitchell may take some opportunities to cover the big-bodied WR, Williams will likely see Slay shadowing him everywhere he goes. If Williams can step up in George Pickens’ absence, expect the Black and Gold to walk away with a win.

OLB T.J. Watt vs. RT Lane Johnson:

After struggling against RT Jack Conklin last week and in Week 12, Watt has shown he isn’t entirely matchup-proof. Johnson, arguably the Eagles’ best offensive lineman, will aim to make it a long night for the former 2021 D.P.O.Y.

RB Najee Harris vs. LB Zach Baun:

Harris’ dual-threat abilities meet Baun’s impressive, do-it-all linebacker style. Baun has been playing like one of the best LBs in the league, while Harris has been inconsistent at times. This matchup could set the tone of the contest early.

CB Joey Porter Jr. vs. WR A.J. Brown:

Eagles’ drama aside, Porter has a tall task in front of him as he attempts to stop Philadelphia’s Hurts-Brown connection. Penalties have plagued Porter, but his overall performance will be crucial in limiting the pass and allowing the defense to focus on RB Saquon Barkley.
