Dakota Pro Musica to showcase 2 free Christmas concerts

Dakota Pro Musica will present its fourth annual “Nine Lessons and Carols” services in Bismarck-Mandan.

The event features the service of Nine Lessons and Carols first created for King’s College Cambridge in 1918. It tells the story of Faith from the Fall of Adam and Eve to the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, with each of the nine lessons followed by a choral selection reflecting on Bible scripture and helping to tell the story leading to Christmas.

Selections include “Once in Royal David’s City,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” and compositions by Dan Forrest, Philip Stopford and Ben Parry.

The performances will be freewill offering events scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 21 at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck and 3 p.m. Dec. 22 at the First Lutheran Church of Mandan.

Dakota Pro Musica is a nonprofit music and performing arts organization and professional choir in North Dakota.
