The Old First Ward neighborhood gem was broken into earlier this month.
BUFFALO, N.Y. — An arrest has been made in connection to a burglary that happened earlier this month in the Old First Ward.
Steven Palistrant, 35, is charged with one felony count of burglary, one misdemeanor count of criminal mischief, and one misdemeanor count of petit larceny.
The charges stem from a Dec. 2 incident at Gene McCarthy’s Old First Ward Brewing Company, where employees reported an overnight break-in. Someone had broken into the building and smashed a donation jar, taking roughly $200.
Donations to the jar were for the OFW Community Center Kids Christmas Party.
Palistrant was arrested Thursday without incident, according to a Buffalo Police statement.
“We have the alarm system, and it went off, and that’s when we found out we were broken into,” general manager Margo Kowal told 2 On Your Side earlier this month.
