Attention all pet parents out there: If you consider your pet your child, I can promise you that you have found a very safe place on the internet. There is absolutely no shame in loving your cat or dog (or other pet) so much you’d consider them your baby, and anyone who tries to say otherwise doesn’t matter. Of course, there will always be those who don’t fully understand the pet parent life, but one famous cat dad is speaking out for us in a way that people can’t help but cheer for.
In one of his latest TikTok videos, Jason Ritter not only shared a very adorable peek at his orange kitten, but he also made an argument that the people need to hear.
Jason shared this very important PSA on his TikTok account, @jasonritter1980, on Sunday, December 8, and he’s making some very important points here that all go back to one important message: His orange kitten (whose name is Donut) is his son, case closed.
“Let’s just get something clear right now: This is my son,” Jason said in the beginning of the video.
As if on cue, Donut started playing with the strings on Jason’s hoodie just as he was telling his viewers that he’s a good boy. Isn’t that the most typical thing ever, though?
Then, Jason issued his followers a warning. “If you’ve got an issue with my son, or you wanna say that he’s not any one of those things that he is, or you even wanna say that he’s not my son… actually, we don’t have a problem. You have the problem.”
Donut, who was purring away in his dad’s arms, seemed to be in full agreement, as were Jason’s followers. One person wrote, “He looks exactly like you. Anyone saying that he’s not your son is just jealous.”

Jason’s Love of Donut the Cat
Jason’s journey with Donut has been well documented on TikTok, so really, his latest video is just giving the people more of what they want. It seems that he adopted him very recently, but it didn’t take long for them fall in love with each other.
Here, he was totally letting Donut beat him up with his tiny paws (as all good cat parents must). And in another video, not only can you see how adorable this kitten is while he’s sleeping, but Jason also performed a little calming “cat magic” to spread Donut’s gift of keeping his dad relaxed around to the internet.
“Donut has been very generous with his calming energy the last few weeks and just yesterday our local cat warlock taught me how to spread it around!” he wrote in his caption. “So here’s some extra relaxed cat energy in case you need that to face your day. Or put it in your pocket and use it at your leisure if this is not a good time!”
