LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Lexington man has big plans for his big lottery win after he won more than $261,000 while playing a Kentucky Lottery Instant Play game online.
The lucky player is Steven — who requested only his first name be used. He wagered $5 on the High Roller Jackpot Instant Play game in November. Moments later he discovered he won the jackpot.
“I was playing for the jackpot,” Steven said. “I wasn’t really paying that much attention and next thing you know, it hit!”
Steven’s computer screen confirmed that he was the winner of the $261,303.10 jackpot. That’s when he shared the news with a close friend.
“He sent me a screenshot,” his friend said. “I was driving, and I zoomed in and I almost wrecked. I was like no way you just did, that!”
Steven and his friend drove to lottery headquarters in Louisville on Nov. 13, where he was presented with a check for $188,138.24, after taxes.
“That’s not bad for clicking on your mouse!” his friend said.
Steven said he planned to pay off his home with the winnings.
“And take his friend to a fancy dinner,” his friend added with a laugh.
“It still hasn’t sunk in,” Steven told lottery officials, as he claimed his prize.
