Darian Mensah is officially on the market and weighing his options.
The Tulane quarterback is currently ESPN’s No. 1 overall portal recruit, and he has a scheduled visit with Duke today, according to Pete Thamel. After the portal officially opened yesterday, this is Mensah’s first visit.
This season as a freshman for the Green Wave, Mensah completed 189 of 287 passes for 2,723, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Mensah is represented in NIL by Young Money APAA Sports Agent, co-owned by Lil Wayne and Adie von Gontard, Garland Gillen reported. Gillen posted a graphic of Mensah’s season stats with the headline “rising star” and wrote the future was “bright” for him on Nov. 17 on Instagram.
“There’s nothing that surprises me anymore,” Tulane coach Jon Sumrall said to Gillen. “As soon as agents get involved, all bets are off the table.”
The 6-foot-3 Mensah led Tulane to the AAC championship game this season, only to lose to Army 35-14 this past Friday. The program was briefly ranked in the AP Poll earlier this season, and head coach Jon Sumrall reassured the public he wasn’t leaving this offseason. The Green Wave are scheduled to face Florida in the Gasparilla Bowl on Dec. 20.
